A useful enterprise AI pilot evaluates a real business workflow against an agreed outcome. Choose a valuable question, establish trusted reference results, test the investigation and deliverable, and review quality, usefulness, time, and cost before expanding.
1. Put a valuable question on the table
Choose a question your team asks repeatedly or struggles to answer well. Name the business owner, the current process, and the consequence of leaving it unanswered. Start with a workflow that matters enough for someone to care whether it improves.
2. Bring the business context
Identify the source of truth, the people who own it, and the definitions behind the result. Bring a trusted example. A useful pilot starts with a shared understanding of what the answer should mean and who should have access to it.
3. Challenge the whole experience
Ask the original question, inspect the evidence and compare two retained results. Request the report the team actually needs. Try a recurring review, share the fixed brief with its audience and assign a finding to an owner. Evaluate how the product handles missing context as well as the questions it answers cleanly.
4. Build the case to expand
Compare the pilot with the current workflow. Review the quality of the result, time and effort, user usefulness, operating cost, and the work required to support it. A stronger rollout decision comes from a clear account of what the team can now do better.
